Abstract: For a decade, there has been a growing public and congressional concern about the use of child workers in the production of goods for global markets. Regulation of child labor is difficult to effect within a domestic context. Its control and/or elimination throughout the world economy is infinitely more complex. The issue is sometimes approached from the perspective of labor standards; at other times, as a trade-related issue--or within the context of international organizations, such as the ILO and other U.N. agencies. In this paper, the focus is primarily one of labor standards.
